50X TAE Buffer Recipe (Tris-Acetate-EDTA)

TAE buffer is the most commonly used buffer for agarose DNA electrophoresis. To prepare 50X TAE buffer, mix the following reagents in a total volume of 1 liter of ultrapure water:

• 242 g Tris base
• 57.1 ml acetic acid
• 100 ml 0.5 M EDTA (pH 8.0)
